Pawn to Dawn
Not sure a resolution
delivers relief, solution
to capturing confusion
taking hold of thoughts
in my mind.
Not sure the words I say
can push the doubt away
to seek a brighter day
with all this dread, decay
in my mind.
Not sure ticking time truly heals
as this brain conceals and reels
My heart feels, appeals
stalemate stuck,square wheels
No clicking heels retreat
in my mind.
Yet when I close my eyes
Embrace the light, sunrise
No blunders, sighs, or cries
unlock a cherished prize
in my mind.
A simple, steady flame
Envelopes all the blame
Smoke smothers all the shame
in my mind.
And then I’m filled with peace
A calm to never cease
A checkmate,
a release
